What happens when you put three of the most interesting ultra-online rap artists together on a track that samples an internet music legend from an earlier generation? You get “Ricky Eats Acid,” a song that is named after a moniker of the musician Samuel Joseph Ray, who also performs in the band Teen Suicide, and who isn’t just referenced here in the title—his music is also flipped. Though he’s from Atlanta, FearDorian’s beat has a lot of Milwaukee-style fairy dust on it, with bludgeoning 8th-note claps propelling Ray’s quirked-up guitar loop. It’s the perfect track for Milwaukee’s AyooLii and New York’s Polo Perks to run wild over. And run wild they do. The end result is a song that makes me want to do a jolly little dance!
