London based Turkish/British solo artist Y Bülbül's new album ÜÜÜ will be following 2022’s collaborative mood piece Not One, Not Two. Building on the abstract nature of his last album, the independent musician embraces a more synthetic texture with ÜÜÜ. The album lurches to and fro between beauty and chaos, seeking an engaged listener.
Describing the album, Y Bülbül said “ÜÜÜ is a heightened, iconoclastic prog-electronica album. A dystopian hyper-pop opera to accompany the end times. It is a product of my anxiety and puzzlement surrounding individual and collective identity amidst the maelstrom of AI paranoia, climate breakdown and humanitarian crises.”
The album has two guests: solo artist Pop Miri on vocals on The Zone and Red Plastic Slide and filmmaker Rose Glass on vocals on Lupin.
Y Bülbül previously released two LPs on the German experimental electronica label Pingipung: 2020’s Fever and 2022’s Not One, Not Two, the latter being a collaborative album with Istanbul based percussionist Yumurta.
