система | system presents new release: "Immigration Sounds Like..." by Ukrainian/Odesa-born and France/Ukraine-based artist Ivan Samokrutkin.
~ Immigration sounds like...
Desperation, pain, loss of home, loss of beloved ones, loss of the sense, paranoia, stress, irrational fear, war, and death that surrounds you daily...
~ Immigration evokes feelings of desperation, pain, loss of home, separation from loved ones, loss of identity, paranoia, stress, and irrational fear. The horrors of war and death surround it.
This release is an audio exploration of the emotional impact of being forcibly removed from one's homeland due to war, losing connection with one's native language and culture, and being severed from everything one once knew and considered life.
War is depicted as the most harrowing experience one can endure.
This release delves into the experience of adapting to new cultural norms during forced emigration. It examines the struggle of integrating into a new social system during a tumultuous and violent period, analyzing the disparity between cultural norms. It also discusses the process of assimilating unfamiliar cultural norms into personal reality during depressive episodes. It explores themes of new intimacy, new reality, and a new, cruel, and harrowing war. It delves into the feeling of being lost - lost in one's emotions, torn between the desire to perish on the frontline and the desire to end one's life in a small room silently.
The study also delves into the experience of feeling "lost" in foreign cities and grappling with their language, with only partial understanding and partial speculation of unexpected meanings.
The project aims to capture the anxious emotions associated with the war, loss of home, stability, and even language and its meanings, expressing these feelings through audio essays.
