Label Mix 005 comes from Los Angeles label Motion Ward and its founder Jesse Sappell aka JS. Started in 2015, the label has steadily gained a passionate collector following for its selective output of oozy, hazy, heady ambient and downtempo music from around the globe. JS told Nina that his mission with Motion Ward is “to release music that hits me in the gut.”
JS’s label mix showcases what he describes as “a pretty soft side of the label.” The mix’s tracklist covers the history of Motion Ward, from the label's first release by LA’s Brown Irvin to its latest album by New Zealand duo Hysterical Love Project, alongside staples like Perila, Ultrafog, Pontiac Streator, and more.
