Aliese’s debut single, ‘All Good’, mixed by Jake Aron (who produced & mixed the musician’s previous rock involvement, Barrie’s 2019 album Happy To Be Here), reflects on the last decade, during which Aliese traversed the music industry pouring energy into “dreams that weren’t my own”. After questioning the institutions his younger self revered with lyrics like “I keep on walking in the same rooms expecting changes. I’m plastered on the wall but don’t see the correlation”, ‘All Good’ becomes a triumphant proclamation of the musician’s own power and realized self-confidence.
Originally conceived as a demo for The Lot Radio’s A Lot of Love compilation, 'All Good' is a bricolage of musical ingredients, such as the staccato clavinet in the verse, a Neptunes reference, or the chunky Sabbath-like rock riff that dominates the chorus. All the elements amount to a bursting anthemic sound that defies the reality that the track was made with a few instruments recorded into a laptop inside the musician’s apartment. Like all great stories, ‘All Good’ extends far beyond its origin: as an idea inside your head.
