What if beating a drum would raise a thunderstorm, as if a sound could alter the very fabric of reality?
In their latest album Days, the experimental electro-acoustic duo Kashaiof expand their sonic explorations, integrating extended techniques of modular synthesis, ultrasonic feedback, field recordings, and acoustic instrumentation.
In contrast to their previous releases Home (Chondritic Sound, LA, 2020) and MA (Under My Feet, London, 2022), where the voice was submerged in electrical responses and processing, in Days the voice undergoes a gradual process of refinement until it is revealed in its clarity, uttering fragments of personal reflections.
Weaving together repetitive post-industrial rhythms, folk chants, pulsating synths, and obscure sound objects, each track unfolds like a process of crystallization, gradually revealing its intricate composition, delivering the duo’s most unique and mature sound to date.
The album's core emerges from a place of vulnerability, a longing for grace where the weight of gravity becomes an overwhelming burden. It offers a captivating experience, questioning the ability of the sonic to shape the world’s order.
