Fuego here. EP pooled our per diems together and gave our manager, Ed, the rare night off, so I’m going to talk to you about this next album right quick. Pretty much makes sense because this one is relatively personal to me.
As with all things, change is the law—some say it’s the law of the universe. How do we come to terms with change that is imminent, and sometimes necessary, when it also may threaten our way of life? Every day it feels like the earth itself is in peril. Our lives, in concert with our ecosystem, exist within a delicate balance of forces, chemicals, ideas. So how do we, ourselves, balance the need to be called to action—to enact change—with the desire for peace and stability?
Sometimes we represent the concept of change with the Δ symbol, delta. Delta also describes the mouth of a river, often the nexus of the mouths of several tributaries. This particular album is concerned with change, but it’s also very much three tributaries of the same river coming together. Therefore I consider this album to be its own kind of delta, one which coalesced during a period of personal change for me. As such, over the course of a year, some of these were recorded in my mom’s attic, up in the heat of a record hot summer, others in the dining room of my new crib in the mildness of winter.
On behalf of all, with no flux given, I hope Climate Change turns the tides within you.
