There’s something profoundly relaxing about electra, a set of rich, hypnagogic piano pieces from the Istanbul-based artist Sunfear. Not “relaxing” in the pejorative sense—that it’s “easy and unchallenging” or “good to stream while you’re working”—but in the physical sense. You may feel like you’re undergoing a kind of untensing, an uncoiling, as you let these songs wash over you. The yogic vibe is enhanced by Sunfear’s knack for intertwining the music with field recordings (“waiting” does this especially well). Hints of Nils Frahm, Grouper, and Julianna Barwick abound.
