The sonic equivalent of an H.R. Giger airbrush painting, Mille Mondi is intricate, shiny, and dark-hearted—all in all, an imposing chunk of experimental rave music. These five powerful tracks take cues from a variety of genres, though jungle and gabber were the two that really jumped out at me. There are moments of reprieve, too: “A A A,” with its skeletal percussion and whistle noises, dedicates its final moments entirely to ethereal church bells. By the end of the chaotic title track, you might find yourself a little more at peace with the squall.
