Though the duo Andreas Raser hail from Los Angeles and Hamburg, they currently call Vienna, Austria home. I went to Vienna once, and I had a great time—I ate a shit ton of schnitzel. Does Andreas Raser like schnitzel? I only ask because HOLLYWOOD, their debut album, is cozy and comforting like meat and potatoes on a chilly day. The record moves through genres with warm ease. There’s a focus on melody and texture, there are nods to dream pop and trip hop and slowcore and indietronica, and there’s an overall sense of experimentation and freedom, which itself makes sense, because Camille Clair and Albert Dietrich maintain a visual arts collaboration, too. Fireplace indie.
