Within the history of American electronic music, Doormouse exists as a singular figure. From his time as an extreme gabber DJ to his work pioneering the genre known as breakcore to an unexpected-yet-completely understandable mid-career pivot into being a successful gym owner and nutrition coach, the man has charted his own path. Recent years have seen Doormouse take a renewed focus on music, so we thought now would be as good of a time as any to check in with him about some of his favorite songs for hyper-specific situations. Read about Doormouse’s Best Songs, and give a listen to “Skelechairs,” his classic breakcore EP with Venetian Snares, below. Doormouse performs in July at the Dominator Festival in the Netherlands.

Best song that you haven't remixed but you would like to remix?
“Move Your Body” by Marshall Jefferson
“Move Your Body” needs a speedcore mix. Definitely in the works now that you made me think about it. 128 and 256 go so well together. Sexy and brutal at the same time.
