Under the alias Bleupulp, the Canadian DJ and producer Maxime Tanguay has been working in a variety of electronic music modes for over two decades. His recent EP, We Should Know Better, displays some of the skills he’s developed during his extended run in the game. There’s a studied control of sonics here—take the EP’s lead off track “Philip-ino,” which is dubby and strutting, not unlike the best microhouse. On “Philip-ino,” the crisp, the washy, and the woozy share space. And a subtly swinging kick keeps the pace.
