Puny mortals fear me, the World’s Strongest Man, because I am so physically large that I have to walk sideways through most doors. This once made me sad. But then Callahan and Wischer’s “Hate the Player,” the first single off Think Differently (coming summer 2024 via PPM), showed me that there is life after deadlift.
Nothing makes me go harder on leg day than a pair of avant-garde experimental composers—in this case, Jack Callahan (die Reihe) and Jeff Witscher (Rene Hell)—whose previous collaborations have cast an analytical eye towards contemporary internet culture deciding to pump up their commentary until it takes the form of their source material. “We’ve been threatening to make a pop record for years, and we’re finally doing it,” Callahan told me as I lifted a whole-ass pickup truck over my head. This anti-hater anthem taught me what I should have known all along: that the strongest muscle is the human heart.
