The band Climax Landers is a Brooklyn DIY supergroup: Will Moloney of Old Table, Ani Ivry-Block of Palberta, Paco Cathcart of The Cradle, and Charlie Dore-Young of thanks for coming first got together in 2017 to make a record of jocular, self-referential folk-rock. “Heaven Sent” is the third single from their forthcoming third album, Zenith No Effects. Languid and romantic and pensive, it centers Moloney’s museful lyrics, which come in paired phrases: “I have a complex structure in my mind / Can’t even comprehend and later, Thinking of things as this and not as that / Turning around the bend.” The song’s twangy plodding suggests a long, contemplative walk, circling blocks around the neighborhood.
