Purelink made the best ambient album of last year (Signs—go check it out), and though they’ve definitely earned a little time off, apparently they’re already back with a new track. Rise and grind, baby. “In Light of that Learnt Later (Purelink remix)” is a new take on a 2003 song by the experimental duo Corker Conboy, who are reissuing a full album of the same name later this month. Purelink’s spin on this dubby tune retains all the smoke and earth of the original but cranks up the viscosity, leaning harder on resonance and low-key ambient fog. The B-side is Corker Conboy’s original version of “In the Dust and Haze,” a warped, spacey jam with a squeaky clean finish. The trio and duo are well matched spiritually. Together, their music has the heady, slow-burning power of an incense stick.
