A break in the clouds is a euphoric burst of rave music from Philadelphia producer estoc. On the EP, soul samples, trance synths, and new age pads are used as a base for chopped breakbeats to do the thing that only chopped breakbeats can do—add a specific layer of frenzy to the music. Standout track “Gegenschein” is almost Dan Deacon-esque in its optimistic luminosity. The track also flashed me back to Squarepusher’s drill 'n' bass classic “A Journey To Reedham (7AM Mix).” This EP really does sound like it is parting the crowds. Let the sun in, people.
