Ghost Lemurs make music that sounds like sand slipping through your fingertips. The project, a collaboration between the artists Kareem Lofty and Heith, trades in smudgy electro-acoustic sounds that are always moving in and out of focus. On their LP Wombs And Alien Spirits, they cull from a dizzying variety of sources and influences—rave, ambient, folk music of many stripes—and use that as material to sculpt a record that moves in and out of legibility. It’s actual psychedelic music; no wah-wah pedal needed.
