GRBGE_GRL combines EDM bombast with a charming DIY scrappiness. Her self-titled record goes spelunking into the depths of internet culture and comes back up with a treasure trove of ultra-contemporary pop songs. On the album, there is an overarching aesthetic sensibility that ties together various subcultural modes; throughout all of the chaos, the music always points back to one artist earnestly trying to make sense of themselves and a complicated world. We sent over some questions to GRBGE_GRL—also known as Sabina Schilling—read the interview and listen to the album below.

What are the origins of the GRBGE_GRL project?
GRBGE_GRL: This project originated in high school when I was on mushrooms at my friend’s house. I saw myself in the reflection of her metallic trashcan, and I felt really seen in that moment. I came up with the name and changed my username to match it. It’s been the same ever since, even before I started producing music. I guess I have always been GRBGE_GRL at heart. <3
Tell us about the newest record.
GRBGE_GRL has given me space to build a more cohesive sonic and visual world. I had written/released preliminary versions of some of these tracks as demos as far back as 2019, so it felt like the right time to give them a proper release. This project also became an outlet for exploring some of the more taboo sides of myself, ultimately catalysed to completion by a bout of tumultuous life experiences that had me questioning my sanity—and taking a vow of celibacy until the album was finished.
What parts of internet culture influence your songwriting the most?
Tumblr Grl > Meme Lord > FemCel > TradWife > Grl Boss—I relate heavily to all of these internet archetypes. Sometimes my songwriting reflects on how these labels can feel limiting, and other times, it’s just fun to play into them.
What is “Looks Maxxxing” about?
“Looks Maxxxing” was conceived originally as a reflection on my experience of womanhood, but it also explores the feeling of longing for a lost part of yourself.
Do you test your songs to make sure they are going to work at a party or club?
I love DJing my tracks in The Club when the moment feels right, there is something dastardly about playing something unreleased and seeing how people react. That said, I try not to get too caught up in how my music will perform in a certain setting. I focus more on how it feels for me to perform. But, thanks to DivPro, the tracks on this recent record hit hard—epic basslines that really sound best on a good sound system.
How does your collaborative process with DivPro work?
Every track comes together differently! Sometimes he has a beat ready and I write lyrics while he finishes it, like “HORSEC*CK”—which we recorded in a single session. Other times, I have a rough outline or demo and we build the track together, like “Dubstep CEO.” Most of this album was recorded in his closet.
Do you have a GOAT producer, speaking as a fan?
Skrillex. Hands down. Huge fan.
What music are you excited about in 2025?
Vayda has been on repeat for me—her VAYTRIX RELOADED dropped in January, and it’s incredible. I’m also always excited to discover more queer and non-man producers—Galen Tipton, Sw0rdes, Petal Supply … and I’ve been loving Oklou’s choke enough, Marjorie W.C. Sinclair’s Blindman’s Holiday, and Mun Sing’s Frolic EP. GFOTY just released an epic album. I also have some exciting announcements coming soon ... 2025 is shaping up to be a great year for music lovers—I can feel it.
