Community Picks is a weekly series where artists submit a release to be voted on by members of the Nina community. Once a week, the release with the most votes will receive editorial coverage. This week’s winner is “Bella” by Guess. The tune is a moody, trip-hoppy slice of bedroom indie with a bit of a Twilight vibe. We sent over some questions to the band, read the interview and listen to “Bella” below.

Where are you from?

We are Belgian and French and we are based in Brussels.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it?

Our main influences come from alternative rock, but we find ourselves drawn more and more to folk sonorities.

Tell us about your release on Nina.

Bella is a single from our upcoming EP. After composing it, we realized the piano was very reminiscent of the Twilight theme. Then we went for it and shot a music video featuring a 2025 version of Bella and Edward walking the streets of Brussels. The song has some trip hop influences in the drums and a kind of nonchalance to it.

What kind of tools do you use to make music?

We use two guitars, a Stratocaster and a Jazzmaster that we sometimes record on tube amps, a bass, mainly an SM7b for the vocals and the rest is digital, we record on Abelton and mix everything ourselves for now.

Who are 3-5 independent artists you think people should check out?

Professor Bamba is an artist we discovered on Nina and love, his album YOUR SMILE IS A RIFLE is full of beautiful tracks with eclectic influences. We also really like artists from the current UK scene like Rita P or Eterna, who are direct inspirations for our music. In the Community Picks list where we submitted our track, we discovered Boy Factory’s single Gravel, which we really liked. And Tonia Leone, our singer’s solo project.
