The story of the duo Headless, whose debut single came out today, goes like this: In 2021, Curtis Everett Pawley and Drummond Arsley met each other in the “comments section,” whatever that means. Pawley is a name that might be familiar to New York observers—he is the co-host of The Ion Pack podcast and makes music under the name The Life—but the upstate-based “multidisciplinary artist” Arsley’s history is a mystery. It’s curious that the two met on the internet, because Arsley seemingly has no online footprint.

About the music: “Lover’s Talk” has a certain kind of big beat swagger. It’s a little Fatboy fried. It’s a little “Garbage-pilled,” if you will. Beyond any of that, there is a definite lad energy here. Big beats are the best. Arsley, whose first name coincidentally maps onto the last name of one half of the legendary British electronic pranksters The KLF, provides lyrics. Pawley does everything else. I’m left with more questions than answers, but I’m also sort of dumb, so take that for what it’s worth. Cool song!
