Her New Knife is a Philly band that plays a moody, noisy brand of indie, indebted to both shoegaze and a continuum of damaged rock that stretches from Sonic Youth to Blonde Redhead. Their new EP for Julia’s War, chrome is lullaby, is music for an East Coast state of mind. It’s music for a hungover Wawa run. There is a bit more momentum here than your boilerplate Zoomer shoegaze; to me, an Aging Millennial Hipster who grew up going to noise shows, there is a bit more to chew on.
