Paradoxe Club is a French label that focuses on spunky club music that pushes sonic boundaries while also making sure the dancers are happy. That is at least according to co-founder Birol, who told us that balance is a crucial part of the label’s sensibility. Here, Paradoxe Club—which was also founded by Sunareht, De Grandi, and Le Dom—throws down an eclectic club mix that pummels and delights in equal measure. Listen to the mix and read an interview with Briol below.

Where are you based?

Birol: Paris and the area.

Can you describe your label mix?

Straight-up club music from where we are, from the early days to now and onward, with a few special bits and lost files.

What inspired you to start a label?

All the music we’d been hearing around in 2016 with Sunareht, De Grandi and Le Dom—just fun club music in any form, while also being cross-genre.

Does your label have a sound or a mission?

I want to push more local artists going totally bold in their sound design choices—I want crazy stuff from all the electronic spectrum while keeping a focus on the dancefloor.

Tell us about your scene(s).

Much of it is going on online but yeah there is always a nice club night around for any style, since we are in Paris. However a small club with a good sound system is a rarity and most big ones are inaccessible and often driven by the money. I wish I could rely on a human scaled club and create a rendez-vous.

What's your A&R process?

It's mostly music from friends we met along the way. I just really started reaching out to new people for the single series we began in November, which will end this summer. I'm really excited for what's coming up next for To Van Kao, Vod Kasat and Zero Crossing Point. Our next single will be out end of May and it's by Sébastien Forrester.

What labels do you look up to?

Any labels that keep on releasing quality over quantity
