Community Picks is a weekly series where artists submit a release to be voted on by members of the Nina community. Once a week, the release with the most votes will receive editorial coverage. This week’s winner is This Fog is like a Wet Reverb on the Master Track of the World by the Scottish artist Lamium. The six-song EP is full of smeary, forward-looking ambient pop music. It’s the perfect soundtrack to falling temperatures. We sent over some questions to the artist so we could learn more.

Where are you from?

The Kingdom of Fife, Scotland.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it?

Ambient ballads, wintery textures, and drums like falling rocks.

Tell us about your release on Nina.

Irish blessing: “May the road rise to meet you / wind be at your back.” A lot of what I’ve made for the last few years has been about weather, I like how it leads us through time and anchors our emotions. This one is a deliberate reaching for some sense of hope, and how the world around you morphs to your will.

What kind of tools do you use to make music?

I like to make music on trains, the movement and the scenery, and the space to dwell is really special. I use an OP-1, it’s great not to see the waveform, making only by the sound rather than what you can see, I also love the limitations of four track, I will do 99 percent of a project there.

Who are three artists you are listening to right now?

Chanel Beads, Alliyah Enyo, and Sunchaser.
