Community Picks is a weekly series where artists submit a release to be voted on by members of the Nina community. Once a week, the release with the most votes will receive editorial coverage. This week’s winner is Three by the Norwegian artist m. bang. The release is a collection of three drowsy, inspired cover songs, each one a singular take on an indie rock classic. We sent over some questions to the artist.

Where are you from?
I am from Mo i Rana, a small industrial city in northern Norway. It gets really cold in the winter and the cops there are mean. I've been living in Bergen for the past nine years. It rains all the time, but winters here are much milder and the officials don't bother you for petty shit.
How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it?
Reflective, strange, consolatory. Like walking through the forest in a dawn that never breaks into day.
Tell us about your release on Nina.
Covers of three songs I listened to all the time when I was growing up. They go really well with that icy industrial vibe that I sometimes miss. “Dramamine” is extra close to my heart because my parents would give me the Norwegian equivalent (Postafen) before long trips in the car. It kept me from getting sick, but it made me really spaced out instead and that was my first drug-induced high, watching the landscape zoom by, listening to something on my iPod Nano.
What kind of tools do you use to make music?
I usually start with a little riff or some sampled drums in Ableton. I just track it all out in arrangement view and keep building and mixing as I go. Lately though, I've been wanting to limit myself, so the songs on "Three" are all recorded on the OP-1 Field. It's really frustrating, but it forces me to not get lost in the sauce of possibilities. I try to keep it simple.
Who are three artists you are listening to right now?
I really dig Nepalese artist Nindramaya, especially her collaboration with Auryn Waring called Moon Over Swamp. Also BUISNESS ANGEL from Paris makes super cool stuff. Big shoutout to Sin Falta in Florida and his track "una cura" that I've played 50 times this week. Can't wait to see what they all put out next.
