1. Where are you based?
Los Angeles, Boyle Heights specifically for the past 3 years.
2. Can you describe your label mix?
I just went through the releases and found a thread of music that felt resonant to me in this time. It’s a pretty soft side of the label, but I guess it’s a mostly soft label in general so…
3. What inspired you to start a label?
I was really into a certain kind of music at the time and wanted to hear more of it / give it a world to exist in. Also I had a lot of friends making music I really loved and they ended up being the first couple of releases, so I was definitely really inspired by them also.
4. Does your label have a sound or a mission?
The sound is always gradually changing I think. The mission is to release music that hits me in the gut.
5. Tell us about your scene(s).
It’s pretty international, everyone is everywhere and not really centralized. I’ve met so many amazing people through doing the label who are now some of my closest friends, it’s really a gift! It also feels very open in the sense that people aren’t just into one thing musically, which feels super comforting and welcoming / sustainable.
6. What's your A&R process?
I’ve mostly just stumbled across the people who’s music I’ve released via soundcloud, discogs, bandcamp, and recommendations from friends. But when I find something that hits really hard I become super obsessed and do everything I can to get them to work with me haha. There are a couple of releases on the label that were sent as demos also, like the AIR Krew album which I love so deeply.
