On his second album, the Paris-born, Berlin-based sound artist Nexcyia takes a focus on storytelling. The story in question: his family’s migration to Los Angeles from Texas in the 1970s. The tools used: samples and sound design. The result: sheets upon sheets of dense, detailed sonic testaments, which warp and unfurl the artist’s deeply personal source material into something that moves beyond the limits of narrative—and language—altogether.
