For this release, the artist sent us what must have been like 30-40 demo recordings to choose from. I don't know for sure how this guy works, as he is quite secretive, but it must be along the lines of live machine jamming run through an old desk and recorded in one take. Some of the demos were very short, some were the same the whole way through with hardly any changes, and all of them were raw as hell. Experiments in booming 808 drums and distorted squelches of sound running way too hot. You have to picture yourself in sweaty, pitch-black basement club with only a strobe light and big stack of old speakers, tripping well beyond reality in order to understand the music. In the end the tracks I liked most weren't selected, but I'm still happy with the result as earning the artists' trust took a very long time, and it's always a nice accomplishment to release music from a producer you sincerely love.
