Rita P is a new project from Emilie Palmelund, who is a touring member of Bar Italia, a London band whose “elusive brand of indie rock” (the scare quotes seem overwrought, I know, but they don’t not make sense) seems to be getting more influential by the minute. Her self-titled song is somewhat aloof, breakbeat-driven indie rock that borders on trip-hop. The synthesized choral pads give the tune a foreboding edge, but before that can be further explored or paid off, the song is over. It’s under two minutes.
