Samuel Reinhard is a Swiss composer based in New York City. In his long and winding career, which has seen the artist work under multiple monikers, he has touched genres as varied as dancehall, club, and experimental electronic music. Over the past few years, though, Reinhard has turned his focus towards making what could broadly be considered contemporary classical. On Movement, the artist presents four stark, pensive electroacoustic assemblages—piano fragments existing alongside live musicians. The pieces included here feel miles away from any sound system concerns. They exist on the other side of the night, in the kitchen with the white sun bleeding through a dirty window, the tea kettle providing unintended accompaniment.
