There is something subtlety buoyant about Kosmos, the forthcoming Luaka Bop release from the Copenhagen “dub-inspired jazz” duo Bremer/McCoy. Take the track, “Higher Road,” for example. It seems to be built primarily on three instruments: upright bass, electric keyboard, and dubbed-out piano. Within those contours, the tune maintains a lilting sense of space; it sounds like shards of sun slicing in from the windowpane in an ad for a Danish brand of coffee. The record as a whole maintains a similar delicate balance. It premieres here at Nina, a day ahead of its release. Music to ease you into your morning, afternoon, or evening.
