The first shimmers of Atlas of Green, the forthcoming album by Dialect, aka Andrew PM Hunt, are cast with “Late Fragment,” a piece which assembles aural relics from a mid-future in flux. The song encompasses the melancholic core of the record, a patchwork of memory and mistranslation, and the worlding of an imaginary musician named Green, who unearths enduring impulses from the sediments of time. Burnished and twinkling, the vocal offerings of “Late Fragment” glow out from the album’s palpable sense of yearning, as if an inner Shepard tone were guiding Green through the murmurs of sentient droids or ancient druids.
