Can you tell us about this track?
This song was developed from parts that were created by working with my hands while learning how to make minimal house.
What's your process?
What I often do these days is to first create a synth pad or rhythmic phrase, then after the groove foundation is established with percussion or other mid bandwidths, I look for a place where a hi-hat or kick would feel good to be placed, and place it to create a pattern.
Can you tell us about your scene?
I live in Nagoya, a regional city in Japan, where I organize various parties and perform live and DJ. Located between Tokyo and the Kansai area (Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe etc), Nagoya is the next largest city in size, and has a strong hip-hop community and avant-garde electronic music scene from the older generation.
I also started my activities from those scenes. Currently, many producers making eclectic electronic music. I recognize that the uniqueness and quality of the musicality and the number of players are the characteristics of the town, even when viewed within Japan. So we are working daily to develop, transmit, and spread the culture born in this town to other cities in Japan and abroad while intersecting with the dance scene where there are many dancers of the same generation.
The older generation of producers that represent the city includes baptisma, Foodman, and Ramza, while my generation includes Karnage, Methodd, Am Shhara, daiki hayakawa, Nasty Soupman, DHYAN ...etc. . etc. The mix I submitted to the Rinse FM show for my release on London's Wisdom Teeth label last November was composed entirely of songs by these producers. I hope you will give it a listen.
