I’ve been wondering when the mascot uniform was going to make its way back into the visual vernacular of indie rock. I’m not talking about those new-school, high-end furry getups, the ones you see on TikTok and make you feel uncomfortable. No, reader, I’m talking about the dirty, be-true-to-your-school-style mascot uniforms that bring to mind Mike Kelley and Sonic Youth. One of those kinds of suits is on full display in the music video for “Delusions Are So Beautiful,” the new single from Angel Investor, a band that features Jack Dione of untitled (halo) and Silas Johnson of Tracy. In it, a pig mascot does jumping jacks in black-and-white. The clip is the perfect complement to the band’s winsome, aloof jangle pop.
