Can you tell us about this track?
The inspiration for the track came to me when I was at the airport getting ready to fly to the UK. At the time, I was obsessed with liminal space and the aesthetics of backrooms. I needed a change at that point in my life. I saw all these people coming from nowhere and going nowhere. It was at that point that I wanted to capture in music the emotion you can feel when you're going through a period of transition.
What's your process?
I made a little melody on the synth Spire. After that I played with different plugins (grain-delay, portal, halftime, saturator). I'm a real mess when it comes to producing alone. So I tried a lot of random things to finally arrive at this version. I did a version with drums and more rap but I deleted that one and chose something more simple like a babyxsosa track, so I just added some layers to complete the lead.
I had a lyrics idea about the concept of jetlag to express this feeling. I finally wrote some lyrics during the flight back from London. Because I met someone there, and I knew that I would not see this person for a long time, I tried to personify the jetlag, the transition's feelings and my inner evolution through themself.
Tell us about being a musician in Switzerland.
I don't have much to say about being an artist in Switzerland, in my field of music there isn't much going on. Especially in French-speaking Switzerland there are very few events, very few invitations and very little going on. Nothing is very exciting here. People are more open-minded and interested in Zurich for example but the travel time is as long as going to another country where the opportunities may be greater.
Maybe it's good to get funding, but when you're not in institutional circles, things are a bit hidden. In any case I've always learned to do things by myself but if anyone has access to a residence to develop my project I'd love it, haha, I'd still like to thank all the people who are doing things and who invited me, I'm grateful.
