Can you tell us about this track?

This track was initially instrumental. Honestly, I made this for a release on Präsens Editionen, because Remo Bitzi and I had been talking for a while about a possible release under my real name on PE. We worked together previously back in 2016 when I made a tape on PE. I rushed to make another six-track EP; we both let it sit for two months and I guess in a weak moment, I went to the studio and sang some lines over it. For me, this was the defining moment—“this is deleterolf.” What more can I say, I guess the lyrics are about spiraling and madness that lasts for three days.

What's your process?

With deleterolf, the process is to find some unused ideas and rework them. I’ll go to my hard drive and find some quick beats or ideas that I put together at some point, but did not pursue any further. Recently, I even went back to 2012, where I first tried to record an acoustic guitar into Ableton with the built-in laptop microphone. I try to recycle my own ideas in a way that is interesting for me at the moment. I needed to create a project for me to deal with my notorious deleting energy. Maybe I’m also deleting these ideas by making a track out of them and releasing it, so they are not stored anymore in the back of my head, somewhere I can not access by cognitive memory.

Tell us about being a musician in Switzerland.

From my perspective, it’s just so uncommon. But you can get loads of financial support from the government and private funds, if you have the skills to write a proper document and if you play by the rules ... Both are not my most praised talents, when it comes to music.

Who are your favorite Swiss artists?

Sometimes I listen to: fssbbless, Cristallin, RDH.
