Roughly one year ago, the Dallas artist dreamTX released their acclaimed debut album, Living in Memory of Something Sweet, and in commemoration of this anniversary, he has uploaded the record to Nina. It couldn’t have come a day too soon. The album is a miraculous combination of post-rock, emo, indie rock, shoegaze, and beyond; it strikes an interesting balance between songwriting and more textural concerns; it seems to recall both ultra-current developments in digital guitar music and also the bedrock fundamentals of forward-thinking ‘90s indie. dreamTX is not so active these days—did he retire?—but we hope that he returns to music, no matter what guise he rocks under. There’s a keen fusion of melody and production on display here. Living in Memory of Something Sweet sounds just as inspired now as it did a year ago.
