Dutch Interior’s Americana is rooted in various traditions and sub-traditions. A certain kind of listener could tease out the influences, point to the pathways, and make a game out of the whole thing. And that’s fine. But for all heads, both casual and not, it is the songs themselves that do the heavy lifting, helping to transcend any cultural signposts and live a life of their own. The third full-length from the six-piece Los Angeles unit is full of expansive, rootsy-enough songs that feel comfortable enough to spend some serious time inside of. There’s timeless songwriting here. The production moves never feel heavy handed. Put it on and take a long drive. Clear your head.
