It’s time to twist your melon. This rigorous suite of computer madness from the New York-based musician and audiovisual artist G. ZIFCAK contains 18 tracks of process-based electronic super scramble, all exploring the spaces between speech and synthesis. G. ZIFCAK is a lifer who has traversed through many different scenes and eras of underground electronic music. Here, he showcases his chops using multiple methods—audio processing, sampling, and simulation—carried out with a variety of tools. The tracks here burble and moan and croak. Sometimes they sound like Roger Troutman’s talkbox got strangled; other times they sound like a pained, dying robot trying to articulate their last wishes to their uncaring owner.
