In folklore and fiction, the archetype of the fool is one as old as time, and one that manifests itself in many forms. Then there is tarot, where the Fool card can signify a certain kind of positive risk-taking. Beyond any of that noise, and just speaking casually here now, who hasn’t felt like a fool at one point? Those who have never felt like a fool might just be the biggest fools of all—the real fools gone wild. On Music for Fools (2022-2024), Jazz Lambaux presents a collection of music made between 2022 and 2024—buzzing, ecstatic music that spiritually links together Amps For Christ and SoundCloud rap, Celtic music, twee, and the late, great SOPHIE. On the record, bagpipes and AutoTune do a strange dance. Only a fool would consider putting together some of these sounds, and we should all be grateful that there is a fool as imaginative as Jazz Lambaux.
