Can you tell us about this track?

The Inspiration was (I'm serious) an episode of Young Sheldon, where one of the characters used the phrase “eat crow.” After finding out the meaning, it felt like the final missing piece for something already waiting to exist. “Eat Crow” was done and finished in like four hours that same day. I just recorded the pads off my Access Virus, laid down the vocals and the song was finished, it basically came to me.

The video was filmed in New York last year, I just cut the loose footage to the song the same week. It felt like it was waiting for this song. To me, it's the best song I’ve ever made and by far my favorite to perform.

What's your process?

I wouldn't say I have a go-to process, I usually just sit down and play something on the Virus or try to design some new sounds, and when I think I've found something, I'll start recording the instrumentals and lay down some arrangements. I write down poems and lyrics into my phone over the day, most of it is unusable, so I just pick some phrases and parts that I like and put it all together, other times I'll just freestyle the whole song.

I am a terrible procrastinator, so most of it goes through reworks and edits ten-plus times until I'm content with it. I have hundreds of songs made that will never see daylight.

Tell us about being a musician in Switzerland.

I usually make most of my music in winter, the snow and the cold, grey weather paired with all the lights and decorations in the city helps with the music a lot. I either draw inspiration directly from that, or I'll try to make the biggest contrast to the greyness that I possibly can. There is somewhat of an industry-run musical monopoly here, so it's pretty hard to be seen. Our community is pretty small but very alive. There has been so, so much change in the last few years, defeating this stereotype that Switzerland is somewhat culturally isolated, because that is no longer the case.

Who are your favorite Swiss artists?

Maq22, who does this liminal, ambient sort of rap, Xafya, who is insanely talented in so many aspects, and Aalage Ale, my best friend and Switzerland's very own Robert DeNiro.

Who would you like to see perform in Switzerland?

Gud, White Ring, Dean Blunt, Jackzebra, User2222, DJH, Elusin, and SALEM.

Any shoutouts?

Shoutouts to Ale, Norfi, Frougmane, Shamani, Sven, This, and Volds0m. Shoutout to Endless Bazaar and all the people who actively keep something cultural happening in our little spot of land. Shoutout to everyone coming to the shows and events and shoutout the culture.
