Can you tell us about this track/release?

“Estrella Fugaz” (in English: shooting star) is the most random track I’ve released and it’s the most recent. I remember that while I was doing it I felt like I was doing a collage, I had so much fun! It’s divided in two parts: the first one, which is softer and easy-going, and the last one, where I scream with some breakcore drums in the background. For me this track is all about playing, mutating, allowing myself to change my mind, and seizing the power of my own moves.

What's your process?

I don’t have a specific process while composing, but lately, I’ve started recording voice notes before going to the computer. Most of these voice notes don’t have lyrics, they are just melodies, and sometimes I combine different recordings to make a song. I normally start composing every song from the beginning, not the chorus part. I think that I do it like that because I love the very first seconds of every song, the feeling when the curtains open and you are still trying to understand what is going on.

Tell us about the scene in Barcelona.

I find the scene in Barcelona to be rich and varied when it comes to the underground. There’s punk, garage, pop, hyperpop, trap, reggaeton, and experimental electronic music, too. You can listen to songs in Catalan, Spanish, English, and other languages because of all the mixture we have here. There are also great collectives for electronic music producers and DJs. I find it queerer than most of the other cities in Spain, even though I think we still have a long way to go, also with regards to labor rights in the artistic world.

Who are your favorite local artists?

If we are talking about the scene in Barcelona, I like to listen to Nasty Dalsy (a component of the group Els Cundits), Dame Area, which I don’t listen to too often but their tribal-industrial music live shows are amazing, Plata, who is my favorite local artist for electronic music (I think he’s from Barcelona lol), BabyFairy, and the DJ sets of Aira Sans.

Who are your biggest influences?

My influences are always changing but Eartheater has always been a constant. Right now, I find Elusin very inspiring, who I would say does a mixture of indie, experimental electronic, and witch house. Health has also been a big influence, Snow Strippers, and lately User2222, DJmegan23, and 2Hollis.

Any shoutouts?

Shoutout to Ainara and Frances from Infanta! I find them very inspiring, too. They have recently moved to Barcelona and we’ll be able to see them more often in the local scene, can’t wait! Shoutout to BabyFairy, love you, you are very inspiring. And shoutout to Kika (@kikakekika on instagram), you are going to be one of my favorite producers in the scene, I know it, better keep her on track!
