Eric Farber is the co-founder of Nina. He’s also an artist specializing in sad songs that are saltier than a tear-stained mug of Budweiser. On Farber’s debut EP, Let Freedom Ring, there’s wisps of David Berman’s poetry and Half Japanese’s skewed version of Americana. More than any cultural input, though, Let Freedom Ring is guided by the raw emotions of its creator. The production is minimal. The lyrics are naked. The end result is a romantic, brutal collection of music that sounds like a moment of time preserved in amber.
