TRANCE NXC ✣ is a party hosted in Barcelona that experiments with melodic, hard, and fast dance music. The project builds its own universe by reinterpreting nostalgic club culture and early internet references, then mixes that together with rising electronic music talent. Expect high-energy live/DJ sets with euphoric trance vocals, makina rhythms, gabber kicks, or sped-up club edits, all accompanied by lots of smog, lasers, and blinding strobe lights.
Can you tell us about this track/release?
“43V3R” is a track I made with my dear friend ascua, an emotional trancy synth journey that navigates through ecstasy and sorrow. It was one of the tracks from Lotura's igoerA CD compilation released in 2023, with an amazing physical edition designed by Nil Fernandez.
What's your process?
I listen to music constantly throughout my day, and whenever something inspires me, I make sure to note down the part of the song I like and how I might use it in my own projects. I love sampling, experimenting with leads and plucks in the arpeggiator, and creating my own club edits of tracks that I DJ. However, I often struggle to finish songs on my own. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that collaborating with friends is a fantastic way to stay committed and push each other forward.
Tell us about the scene in Barcelona.
Barcelona is not just hot in terms of weather, but also when it comes to bookings. Every year, hundreds of amazing artists pass through the city, resulting in incredible lineups all year round. The local scene is vibrant, with numerous collectives launching their own projects and supporting one another. We’re also fortunate to have Razzmatazz involved in the underground scene, providing small collectives and rising stars the opportunity to perform at such an iconic venue. The only issue I've found is that the Spanish economy compared to other countries is not the best, so fees are always low here and it is quite challenging to organize events.
Who are your favorite local artists?
This list could go on and on, but some of my favorite artists from the local scene are of course creative director of TRANCE NXC Nil Fernandez, TORO collective for their unique point of view and commitment to diversity, Drakis collective for being the curators with the best taste in town, Offline Meeting Point for bringing together music enjoyers online and offline, alongside plenty of individuals such as ¥€$Si PERSE, ascua, Sonora, Mark Allen Soul, LOUIS ME, Drazzit, Doppelganger Marcos, La Francesssa, Joe Dembow, Bonbonribbon69, Kanti, Sucedania, Le Mourynho, Mia Flaw, Lorea, and Adrianna Jornet.
Who are your biggest influences?
My musical inspirations are a blend of different eras and styles. A significant part of my influence comes from the melodic trance and dance music of the 90s and 2000s, with legends like Gigi D'Agostino, Ayla, and DJ Mangoo shaping my early love for electronic music through their emotive melodies and uplifting energy. The 2010s electronic music boom, combined with Ibiza’s hot and sexy aesthetic, also played a major role in my creative journey, with artists like David Guetta, Inna, and Deadmau5 influencing my approach to production and performance. Finally, I draw inspiration from the most modern take on electronic music, focusing on complex production layers and innovative sounds from artists like A.G. Cook, Sophie, Himera, Malibu, and Evian Christ.
Any shoutouts?
Huge shoutout to Nil Fernandez, the best creative director out there. Your vision, talent, and dedication inspires everyone around you. Thank you for always supporting each other's journey and for pushing creativity to new heights. I'm very lucky to have you, couldn't ask for a better guide and collaborator.
