Can you tell us about this track/release?
This track started as a school project in which I used the vocals from “Just Like We Never Said Goodbye” by SOPHIE. Then I loved them and I picked the first phrase “We were young and out of control” and translated it to Catalan “Jove I Fora De Si” and finally built the whole concept based around this phrase, focusing the main theme on gender euphoria/dysphoria.
What's your process?
I work really well on concepts, and especially if I'm producing for someone, then I go full in and fast. But if it’s a piece for me, I let it grow slowly, try too many different things (even on one single bassline for example), and then try to pick the best parts. But it’s such a long process with so many small changes, even if they’re unnoticeable for the public. Pretty funny decisions knowing they’ll be crushed by streaming platforms compressing settings, I’m romantic, can’t help it. Also love the long process thing as I believe it can be a cute punk move to just create sounds for the sake of it. The hard part is when everything piles up and you need to get that check coming in.
Tell us about the scene in Barcelona
Crazy wide and full (genres, parties, artistic profiles…) I believe it’s so well developed and rich from the electronic side to the rock/punk side. It’s so sad that places such as “Meteoro” and “El Pumarejo” (amazing culture “hypers”) feel forced to close due to unsustainable conditions from Barcelona’s leisure laws with small venues. Living in the golden age of “macro-festivals” (putting an end to the music circuit of small venues) and the sensation of Barcelona being sold as this “Europe’s cheap bar”, I fear our local music scene is going to be having trouble when wanting to find good salaries within this fake left politics scenario.

The Athens Scene: Evita Manji, Thaleia, Babynymph, Raed Rees, and probably more. Theyhave the key: the sound euphoria, the hottest drums design, and gorg voices.
