The Glasgow imprint 12th Isle hasn’t released a compilation in around five years. Their return to the format is a solid six-tracker that highlights the label’s eclectic, tweaked vision of what leftfield music can be. The comp starts off with the duo Echo Party’s "Peeeeel,” which is a little bit dubby and a little bit wacky. From there, standout tracks include the gentle, cinematic acid of Der Opium Queen’s “Extra Wet” and Guzzi’s “Conga Cave,” a heads-down psych head nodder. The release is a nice reminder of what the label can do with the format—here’s hoping there is more to come.
